Other low bids included Dixon Tractor at $88,024 per tractor/mower combo, a 2027 Freightliner dump truck at $155,494 (Tom Nehl of Waycross), and a Hyundai excavator quoted at $195,500 (National Equipment Dealers). Commissioners discussed durability (Caterpillar and Komatsu preferences), local-dealer support from Yancey Brothers in Waycross, and tradeoffs between purchase and lease costs. Chairman Thrift indicated a preference for Komatsu for longevity; Commissioner Cox emphasized working with local dealers.
Several contract awards and the utility coordination proposal were added to the regular meeting agenda; no final purchase votes were recorded at the work session.
