Ware County adopts 120‑day moratorium on home delivery of sealed alcohol

On Nov. 10 the Ware County Board of Commissioners voted to adopt a 120‑day moratorium on home delivery of sealed alcohol while county staff review whether local code language beyond the Georgia Code is necessary.
Commissioner Jon Tindall moved for the moratorium and Commissioner Leonard Burse seconded. Tindall said the pause will allow the codes department to research and consider adding more specific local wording beyond the state law. County Manager James Shubert clarified that the moratorium applies specifically to home delivery of sealed alcohol.
The motion passed on a roll‑call vote; Commissioner Timmy Lucas voted no while the other four commissioners voted aye.
Staff indicated the moratorium is intended to allow time for policy review and any recommended ordinance language; no ordinance language was adopted at the meeting.
