Ware County seeks MOU, public outreach for industrial-park water connection with ESG

County Manager James Shubert said the industrial-park water connection item was carried over from a prior agenda while updated engineering plans and a memorandum of understanding (MOU) are finalized. Engineer Charlie Bridges, representing ESG, told commissioners the proposal calls for boring under roads and driveways rather than cutting them, and said the MOU will include language requiring the City to cover repair costs for any line breaks and to pay to relocate utilities if future road widening demands it.
Commissioners asked for confirmation that the chosen route was preferred and that road cuts would be avoided. Commissioner Leonard Burse and Commissioner Timmy Lucas said they support the project provided the lines are installed correctly and the MOU protects county interests. Bridges said the City Attorney is finalizing the MOU and will forward it to the County Attorney when complete. Chairman Elmer Thrift and others suggested a town-hall-style meeting after a contractor is selected so affected residents can ask questions about timing and impacts.
No final approval was given; the item remains pending until updated plans and the finalized MOU are submitted and reviewed.
