The Ware County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 13 approved several land-use measures, including a text amendment to Article VIII changing the minimum rear setback for Limited Industrial zoning from 100 feet to 25 feet to match General Industrial standards. Commissioner Leonard Burse moved the text amendment and Commissioner Jon Tindall seconded; the board approved it by roll call.
The board also approved rezonings for multiple parcels (parcel IDs listed in the minutes as "050 03 001", "050 03 002", "050 03 015", "050 03 016" and "050 03 0210") from Industrial Park (IP) and SDD IP to General Industrial (GI) and SDD GI. Commissioner Tindall said rezoning the parcels "would open them up for general use with fewer restrictions." The rezonings were approved on roll call.
Commissioners approved rezoning 2401 State Street from R-90 (Residential) to C-3 (General Commercial); Commissioner Barry Cox moved the rezoning and Commissioner Tindall seconded. Tindall stated the property is already in a commercial area and that rezoning would not affect neighboring properties.
A separate rezoning request for 840 McKinley Road (R-75 to R-75MH) was tabled until the applicant, Dongray Johnson, could be present to describe his plans. The board voted to table that item on Commissioner Tindall's motion.
The board also approved a borrow pit agreement between Ware County and Mark Beeson, authorizing the county to use the borrow pit under the terms recorded in the minutes. All land-use approvals recorded in the meeting passed by roll call among commissioners present.
Next steps: Implementation tasks were assigned to Public Works and county staff as appropriate for zoning code changes, parcel processing and the borrow pit agreement.
