Commissioners review transportation plan update and revisit industrial park water loop motion

Chris Kingsbury of Atlas Technical Consultants told the Ware County Board of Commissioners he brought a 159-page Comprehensive Transportation Plan update and a bypass feasibility study, recommended coordination with the City, and said he would return within a month. Kingsbury left copies of the plan and studies for the commissioners to review.

Separately, the board revisited an earlier motion about approving an industrial park water loop "in idea, in principle," contingent on revised plans and execution of a memorandum of understanding among appropriate parties. County Clerk Melinda Brooks read the exact wording of the Sept. 8 motion aloud for the record: "Mr. Chairman, I make a motion that we approve the industrial park water loop in idea, in principle, subject to the revised plans being submitted and an MOU executed between the appropriate parties." Commissioner Leonard Burse said he supports the concept but asked that proposed plans showing how the water lines will be run be shared with the county before further action. Will Corbitt from Satilla Water and Sewer Authority was present to answer questions; no representative from the City of Waycross attended.

Why it matters: The transportation plan sets long-term priorities for roads and bypass options; the industrial park water connection affects utility layouts and intergovernmental coordination. Commissioners asked for plan sharing and mayoral/city support before formal action.

Next steps: Kingsbury will return within a month with additional follow-up; the industrial park water loop item was added to the regular meeting agenda pending revised plans and an MOU.
