Commission adopts Resolution 2025-17 to participate in ACCG-IRMA First Responder PTSD program

The Ware County Board of Commissioners voted Aug. 11 to adopt Resolution 2025-17, authorizing participation in the Association County Commissioners of Georgia–Interlocal Risk Management Agency (ACCG-IRMA) supplemental medical, accident and disability fund offering coverage for First Responder PTSD.
Commissioner Leonard Burse moved to approve the resolution and Commissioner Jon Tindall seconded. Commissioners said the action implements the requirements of HB 481, the Ashley Wilson Act, which mandates that state and local governments offer supplemental policies to help cover copays, medicines and other out-of-pocket expenses for first responders. Commissioner Tindall said he had reviewed the program during a break and found that ACCG had already negotiated favorable rates for the coverage.
The motion carried by roll call vote. No premium amounts, effective dates, enrollment procedures or budget impacts were provided during the meeting; county staff will follow up to implement the program.
