Manor resident asks Ware County to press GDOT for new traffic study at Hwy 122/84 intersection

A Manor resident urged the Ware County Board of Commissioners during its May 12 work session to seek a new Georgia Department of Transportation traffic study and restoration of an overhead caution light at the Highway 122 and Highway 84 intersection.
Barry Deas told the commission that during the conversion of Highway 84 to four lanes, an overhead caution light was removed and its warning signals placed on roadside signs that he says are hard to see. He said heavy seasonal truck traffic from Moore's and Cornelius's farms increases the risk at the intersection during the growing season, and that GDOT's January study — conducted, he said, in the slow season — did not capture peak conditions.
County Manager James Shubert told the commission he would contact GDOT to request that the agency conduct another traffic study in the summer months when agricultural truck activity is higher. No funding or formal county action was recorded in the work session minutes; the item was noted for follow-up with GDOT.
