Summary
The board approved ARPA-funded repairs to the Health Department and to the Chattanooga/NW Ga. Food Bank, funded an employee assistance contract, ratified a senior-center grant application, accepted a $41,960 juvenile court grant, authorized a UKG cloud upgrade, and awarded the external audit RFP to Rushton LLC.
At its Nov. 11 meeting, the Whitfield County Board of Commissioners approved multiple expenditures and grant actions affecting county operations, social services and IT systems.
ARPA funding: The board approved up to $32,500 from unrestricted ARPA funds for unbudgeted chiller and carbon-monoxide detector repairs at the county-owned Health Department building and approved $20,000 from restricted ARPA funds to pay for a one-year Employee Assistance Program contract separate from county health insurance. The board also approved $46,471 to Momon Construction for first-phase repairs to the cooler/freezer unit at the Chattanooga/Northwest Georgia Food Bank.
Grants and program funding: The board ratified an application to the DHS Senior Center Innovation and Modernization Grant program (administered by the Thanks Mom & Dad nonprofit) that would provide up to $1,500 for the Drums Alive Golden Beats exercise program if awarded. The board also accepted the FY 2024 Delinquency Prevention Grant for Juvenile Court in the amount of $41,960, with no county match required; the award period is Oct. 1, 2024–Sept. 30, 2025.
IT and audit procurement: The board approved $46,000 for an upgrade to the county’s UKG (formerly Kronos) timekeeping software and cloud migration; staff said the cloud upgrade will take 10–12 months and is necessary because the current package will be end-of-life at the end of 2025. Finally, the board awarded the external audit RFP to Rushton, LLC after committee evaluation of technical and pricing proposals; the award was unanimous (4-0).
All motions were recorded as unanimous approvals in the meeting minutes. Specific contract terms, vendor agreements and grant award confirmations will be handled through the responsible county departments as required.
