Tift County awards FY24 LMIG SAP-Off safety contract to Mid-State Construction and Striping

The Tift County Board of Commissioners on Nov. 12, 2024 approved a Notice of Award and contract with Mid-State Construction and Striping for the FY24 LMIG SAP-Off System Safety Improvements at a price of $298,318.75 to be funded from SPLOST VI and LMIG.
County Manager Jim Carter told the board that two bids were received and the low bidder was Mid-State Construction and Striping at the listed contract amount. Carter said the SAP project will likely begin at the end of January 2025.
The motion to approve the award was made by Commissioner Donnie Hester and seconded by Commissioner Melissa Hughes; the vote was recorded 6-0. The board also approved adding the item to the agenda earlier in the meeting before taking final action.
No amendments to the contract were recorded during the meeting and the county did not provide a detailed timeline beyond Carter's statement about a probable January 2025 start. The board approved the award as presented.
