Sheriff recommends approval for Dollar General alcohol license; 28 renewals cleared for consent agenda

At the Dec. 3 work session, County Clerk Miriam Jordan told the Tift County Board of Commissioners that an alcohol beverage license application from Dollar General Store #10931, 1290 US Highway 82 E, had been reviewed by the sheriff and the sheriff recommended approval. Jordan said the applicant asked for an effective date of Jan. 1, 2025. Commissioners indicated they wanted the item on the Dec. 9 consent agenda.
Jordan also reported that 28 existing license holders submitted renewal applications. The sheriff performed the required criminal-history checks and the clerk verified business licenses and taxes for each renewal; the board indicated it wanted the renewals placed on the consent agenda as well.
