Tift County manager says Motorola prepayment discount secured, saving about $53,568

County Manager Jim Carter told commissioners that the Motorola Advanced Plus agreement called for 10 annual payments of $267,841 and that the remaining balance on the contract was $1,071,364. He said Motorola offered a 5% discount for full prepayment, reducing the amount due to $1,017,795.80 and producing a savings of $53,568.20. Carter said the change order has already been executed to secure the discount and the board indicated it wanted the item on the Dec. 9 consent agenda.
No formal vote on the prepayment was recorded at the work session; Carter described the financial terms and staff action to secure the discount.
