Tift County places EB Hamilton maintenance and lighting contracts on consent agenda after bids

At its Dec. 3 work session, the Tift County Board of Commissioners indicated it would place on the Dec. 9 consent agenda two design contract addenda and two contractor awards for projects at the EB Hamilton Sports Complex, Public Works Director Jason Jordan said.
Jordan described the Watkins & Associates addendum for a maintenance building as covering preparation of construction plans, contract documents, bid support and construction review services for $42,278.46. He also described a separate Watkins & Associates addendum covering lighting and electrical improvements for $48,513.78.
Jordan told commissioners that bids were opened Nov. 19 and that Intrepid Building Systems was the low bidder for the maintenance building at $480,437. Jack Knight Electric was the low bidder for the lighting and electrical improvements at $409,632.60. The board indicated it wanted both notices of award and the related contract documents placed on the consent agenda for formal action during the Dec. 9 regular meeting.
The design addenda, Jordan said, include bid opening support, recommendation of award, pre-construction conference, construction review services, payment-review procedures and preparation of change orders and final review. The board did not take a vote on the award items during the work session; staff will return those items on the consent agenda for the regular meeting.
