Tift County approves contracts, license and routine business in unanimous consent vote

At its Dec. 9 meeting the Tift County Board of Commissioners approved a multi-item consent agenda covering procurement, contract awards and routine renewals, taking the actions in a single unanimous vote.

Consent items approved included: a Watkins & Associates contract addendum for the EB Hamilton Maintenance Building project ($42,278.46) and a Notice of Award plus contract with Intrepid Building Systems for the maintenance building ($480,437); a Watkins & Associates addendum for EB Hamilton complex lighting and electrical improvements ($48,513.78) and a Notice of Award plus contract with Jack Knight Electric for electrical work ($409,632.60); ratification of a Motorola radio system agreement change order to pay off the 10-year contract for a savings of $53,568.20; approval of a CivicPlus statement of work for annual supplementation services ($507 first year, $1,014 annually thereafter); approval of an alcohol beverage retail license for Dollar General #10931 at 1290 US Hwy 82 E effective Jan. 1, 2025; and routine alcohol license renewals submitted by the county clerk.

Commissioner Donnie Hester moved to approve the consent agenda; Commissioner Melissa Hughes seconded and the motion carried 5-0 with Chairman Tony McBrayer voting. Earlier in the meeting Commissioner Greg Wood moved to approve minutes from Nov. 4 and Nov. 12; that motion also passed 5-0.

The board recorded no discussion or separate roll-call votes on individual consent items in the minutes. Funding for the listed projects was described as coming from grant funds and reserves.
