Screven County manager flags Health Department HVAC issue; commissioners announce community events

County Manager Lori Burke informed the Screven County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 10 that the Health Department is currently without heat and that repair estimates provided by Public Health Manager Tiffany Rollins may exceed the county manager’s approval threshold, meaning the board may need to approve expenditures.
Burke also reminded the board that the annual Chamber Banquet will be held Jan. 27, 2023. Commissioner Rosa Romeo announced an MLK parade scheduled for Jan. 14, 2023 and said Sheriff Kile will provide the NAACP access to county facilities for the event.
Commissioner J.C. Warren provided a brief update that a lease agreement for the Ditch Pond Dumpster Site will be prepared by next month’s meeting. No executive session was held during the meeting.
