Optim updates commissioners on renovations, staffing and training at county hospital

Evans told the board the hospital is fully staffed at present. Commissioners asked about lab and surgery utilization; Evans said most lab work comes from emergency patients but there has been an increase in outpatient lab work and general surgeries are primarily performed on Wednesdays. Optim noted an agreement with LabCorp in Statesboro that allows residents to have blood drawn locally without traveling to Statesboro.
Commissioners acknowledged the updates and did not take formal action on the hospital report.
