At its June 13 meeting, the Screven County Board of Commissioners handled routine appointments and procurement items.
The Board reappointed multiple members to local boards and authorities: Mary Clare and Melissa Beasley to the Hospital Authority; Todd Bazemore, David Boddiford and John Counts to the Industrial Development Authority; Evon Roberts to the Library Board; Alan Bragg, Chris Thomas, Wes Withrow and Jonna Thompson to the Recreation Advisory Committee (Commissioner Ben Thompson recused from that motion); Josh Kaiser and Dr. Sidney "Joe" Morgan Jr. to the EMS Board; and Andy Durrence and Charles Parker to the Planning & Zoning Board. Two appointments (DFACS reappointment and CRC appointments) were tabled for the next meeting pending confirmation or seeking at-large representation.
The Board approved the purchase of a lawn mower from Screven Power Products for $11,052.36. Commissioners also approved a revised service contract with JAG after JAG increased probation fees, with Commissioner Rosa Romeo moving approval and Commissioner Allison Willis seconding; both motions passed unanimously.
County Manager Lori Burke told the Board that only one respondent answered the library RFP and that response covered HVAC work only; there were no other responses. She reminded commissioners that related funds must be spent by the end of the year.
