Long County commissioners approve mower lease, two rezonings and updated TSPLOST list

The Long County Board of Commissioners met on Nov. 17, 2020, and unanimously approved a series of routine actions, including a lease for a new mower, two rezonings and an updated TSPLOST road list. Chairman Robert D. Parker presided. Present were Vice Chairman Clifton DeLoach, Commissioners David Richardson, Mike Riddle and Mike Phillips, County Administrator Russell Simmons, County Attorney James Smith, County Clerk Mary Ann Odum, Deputy Clerk Brandi Smiley and Finance Director Bernice Johnson.
Commissioner Mike Riddle moved to approve the meeting agenda; Vice Chairman Clifton DeLoach seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The board also unanimously approved the minutes and authorized payment of bills following motions by Commissioners Clifton DeLoach and Mike Phillips, respectively.
On procurement, Commissioner Mike Phillips moved to approve a lease agreement with John Deere Credit for a 2018 Alamo 6110M cab 4WD mower. The contract amount is $162,500 to be paid over 48 months at $2,986.66 per month; Commissioner Mike Riddle seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
The board approved two rezonings that had been the subject of earlier public hearings. Rezoning Z-020-004 (parcel 054-040, 73.15 acres) was approved to change the zoning from AF (agricultural) to R-1 (single-family residential) after a motion by Commissioner Mike Phillips, seconded by Commissioner Mike Riddle. Rezoning Z-020-006 (parcel 072-049, 38.70 acres) was approved to change zoning from C-2 (general commercial) to I-2 (general industrial) after a motion by Vice Chairman Clifton DeLoach, seconded by Commissioner Mike Phillips. Both motions passed unanimously.
Commissioner Mike Riddle moved to approve an updated TSPLOST (transportation special-purpose local-option sales tax) road list; Vice Chairman Clifton DeLoach seconded and the board approved the list unanimously. Commissioner Riddle then moved to adjourn; DeLoach seconded and the meeting was adjourned.
