Long County commissioners award $395,539 LMIG contract, move early‑voting site and approve Palmer Subdivision Phase II

In an item affecting voter access, the board voted to change the polling place for early voting from the Long County Courthouse at 459 S. McDonald St., Ludowici, to the Mary Ann Odum Government Annex at 75 West Academy Street in Ludowici for the May 19, 2020 general primary and subsequent elections. Vice Chairman Clifton Deloach moved the change; Commissioner Michael Riddle seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The commissioners also approved the Preliminary Plat for Phase II of Palmer Subdivision (referred to in the agenda as Palmer Place). Commissioner Clifton Deloach moved approval and Commissioner Michael Riddle seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Other routine business approved without recorded dissent included a motion to change the Community Development Block Grant public hearing time to 10:00 a.m. and add the Palmer Place Phase II preliminary plat to the agenda, authorization for payment of county bills, and approval of the February meeting minutes. The board later moved into and out of an executive session by unanimous vote; the minutes do not specify the subject of the executive session.
The minutes of the session note that the record was adopted by the Long County Board of Commissioners on May 19, 2020. Those present at the March 3 meeting were Chairman Robert Parker; Vice Chairman Clifton Deloach; Commissioner David Richardson; Commissioner Michael Riddle; County Administrator Chuck Scragg; County Attorney James Smith; County Clerk Mary Ann Odum; and Deputy County Clerk Brandi Smiley.
