Tax Commissioner Barry Foster told the Ben Hill County Board of Commissioners on Aug. 6 that the county tax digest had been approved and county tax bills will be mailed before the end of the month.
Foster said the next property tax sale is scheduled for Sept. 3 and noted a change in the law removed the requirement that tax sales be conducted on the Courthouse steps; as a result, he said, the sale will be held in the commissioners' meeting room. Foster also reported the next scheduled mobile home sale will be Nov. 5.
The minutes record Foster's administrative update but do not cite a specific statute or provide documents implementing the location change; the minutes attribute the facts to the tax commissioner. Residents seeking more information on the tax digest, bill mailing or sale procedures should contact the Tax Commissioner's office or the county clerk's office.
