Ben Hill County wins $339,120.90 for striping and schedules LMIG paving on five road segments

Ben Hill County will use $339,120.90 awarded by the Safety Act Program to stripe and sign 66 miles of county roads, Road Superintendent Tim Kegebein told commissioners at the Aug. 6 meeting.
Kegebein said the funded work will cover 26 roads and specifically noted East Coast Paving will begin the county's 2019 Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant (LMIG) paving in approximately two weeks. He listed planned paving on Blackshear, Paulk Park, Franklin Avenue, part of Roanoke Drive West and part of Walker Avenue. Kegebein also reported that routine mowing is behind schedule because a mower is being repaired.
The award and upcoming paving schedule are part of the county’s road maintenance program; Kegebein provided the project and timing information to commissioners who can track contract and construction scheduling through the county manager’s office. The minutes do not include a detailed contract value for the LMIG paving work itself or a start date beyond the two‑week estimate.
