Department of Leisure Services Director Keith Morrison told the Ben Hill County commissioners that his department is operating with a budget shortfall and requested $23,499.50 to restore financial stability.
County Manager Michael Dinnerman relayed the request to the commission and recommended that the county provide the requested funds only under three conditions: that the City of Fitzgerald contribute an equal amount, that there be an intergovernmental agreement detailing the county–city arrangement, and that the department implement a reduction in registration fees. Commissioners discussed the proposal and asked staff to follow up on next steps and any required agreements.
No formal appropriation or vote appears in the workshop minutes; commissioners instructed staff to continue negotiations and return with more information.
