Complete Count Committee Chairman Christine Graham told the Ben Hill County commissioners that the committee, active since August 2019, is coordinating outreach to ensure residents complete the 2020 census. Graham said Fitzgerald Utilities provided 6,000 inserts that will be mailed with utility bills in cycles and that posters will be distributed throughout town. The school system will send messages to families to promote participation. Graham expressed concern that outreach to the Hispanic community may not be sufficient and said the committee is working to close that gap.
County Manager Michael Dinnerman added that elections staff have moved into a new building and that the county has applied for eight grants for the Road Department, contextual items he listed as part of his report to the board.
