Coffee County awards LMIG contracts for Ambrose Road and countywide resurfacing

County Administrator Wesley Vickers reported two Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant (LMIG) bids during the Coffee County Board of Commissioners meeting on March 6. Both bids were from East Coast Asphalt, LLC: $1,280,766.85 for widening and resurfacing Ambrose Road, and $3,316,680.80 for the FY2023 LMIG resurfacing project that includes work in the cities of Ambrose and Broxton.
Statewide review recommended East Coast Asphalt for the Ambrose Road project, and the commissioners voted to accept both bids. Commissioner Jimmy Kitchens moved to approve the Ambrose Road bid, Commissioner Johnny Wayne Jowers seconded; Commissioner Jowers moved to approve the FY2023 LMIG resurfacing bid, Commissioner Oscar Paulk seconded. All commissioners present voted in favor; Commissioner A.J. Dovers was absent.
Vickers noted the FY2023 resurfacing total includes work for the City of Ambrose and the City of Broxton, and those cities will reimburse the county for their portions of the LMIG-funded work. No start dates, change orders, bonding details or contractor timelines were discussed at the meeting.
