The Coffee County Board of Commissioners on June 5 authorized the chairman or his designee to execute documents associated with a $2.2 million grant to upgrade soccer facilities under the Improving Neighborhood Outcomes in Disproportionately Impacted Communities program.
County Administrator Wesley Vickers told the board the county applied for and received the grant to improve soccer facilities; he said the City of Douglas and Coffee County operate a joint city/county recreation committee that will participate in the project. Vickers said SPLOST VII funds are set aside to supplement the grant and that the project will be a long-term effort.
Commissioner AJ Dovers moved to approve accepting the grant award and give authorization to execute related documents; Commissioner Oscar Paulk seconded the motion and the commission voted unanimously to approve.
