On Oct. 2 the Coffee County Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution urging the Governor and the Georgia General Assembly to continue efforts to reform and improve mental‑health services and to enhance funding for mental‑health programs. County Attorney Tony Rowell presented the resolution; Commissioner Johnny Wayne Jowers moved approval and Vice‑Chairman Jimmy Kitchens seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
The board also approved two proclamations at the meeting. Attorney Rowell read the proclamation for National 4‑H Week (Oct. 1–7, 2023); Commissioner AJ Dovers moved to adopt and Commissioner Oscar Paulk seconded the motion. Ms. Michelle Girtman, Magnolia House director, thanked the commissioners before Attorney Rowell read a proclamation declaring Domestic Violence Awareness Month; Vice‑Chairman Kitchens moved and Commissioner Jowers seconded approval.
No funding commitments or implementation steps were attached to the mental‑health resolution or the proclamations during the meeting; the items were formal expressions of support and recognition.
