Hardin County commissioners approve routine minutes, personnel and budget updates; set two public hearings

Hardin County Commissioners on Dec. 10 handled routine administrative and procedural business, approving meeting minutes, financial reconciliations, personnel title changes and setting public hearings.
The court approved the Nov. 26, 2024 regular meeting minutes after a motion by Commissioner Chris Kirkendall and second by Commissioner L.W. Cooper Jr. The Treasurer’s request to cancel all registered claims from Nov. 26 and the accompanying cash statement were approved on a motion by Commissioner Amanda Young and second by Commissioner Ernie Koch. Assistant County Auditor Candice McKinney presented bills for payment; the court authorized payment as presented.
Human Resources Director Melinda Herrington requested a job-title amendment in the Health Services Department, changing ‘Epidemiology Surveillance Specialist MA’ to ‘Immunization/Epi, MA’; the court approved the change. The court also approved a FY25 budget amendment to record $2,000 additional revenue and an offsetting $2,000 increase in Materials & Supplies for R&B2.
Tax Assessor-Collector Shirley McIntyre Cook was authorized to issue refunds to two taxpayers for 2023 taxes: Jeffrey Voth ($1,087.47) and Doyce Cartrett ($1,028.16), totaling $2,115.63. The court approved declaring two Gradall machines (1999 SN 3375; 2000 SN 6384) worthless and to dispose of them after no bids were received per Local Government Code §263.152. Commissioners also approved reappointments/appointments to county Emergency Services Districts (including Village Mills ESD No. 8) for two-year terms.
Finally, the court set public hearings for Dec. 23, 2024 at 9:45 a.m. to consider setback variance requests for the Wilson and Ariola Addition in Precinct 1 and for a utility-easement variance for Lot 20 of Madison Park, Phase II in Precinct 3. The meeting adjourned by unanimous motion.
