Fayette County awards $3.53 million resurfacing contract and $299,495 mineral-bond contract

The Fayette County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 24 approved two road-paving contracts.
Public Works Director Phil Mallon said Bid #2428-B (Fayette County Resurfacing Program FY 2022) was recommended to be awarded to ER Snell Contractor Inc., the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, for $3,530,969.02 pending concurrence from the Georgia Department of Transportation. Mallon said the award covers about 11.94 miles of roadway in the county, including Highway 85 Connector, New Hope Road and Banks Road in unincorporated Fayette County and smaller sections in Peachtree City, Tyrone and Fayetteville.
The Board also approved Contract #2461-B HA 5 (High Density Mineral Bond) to Holbrook Asphalt, Inc. for $299,495.02. Both motions passed 3-0.
Chairman Lee Hearn and Commissioner Charles Rousseau praised staff and the Purchasing Department for the procurement work that produced competitive bids.
