Fayette County approves amended contract for County Administrator Steve Rapson

Fayetteville, Ga. — Following an executive session on personnel matters, the Fayette County Board of Commissioners on Nov. 14 approved an amended contract for County Administrator Steve Rapson that changes vacation triggers, adds a 24-month severance provision and includes a vehicle allowance with a liability waiver clause.
Vice Chairman Edward Gibbons moved to approve the amended contract; Commissioner Charles W. Oddo seconded and the motion passed 4-0. Commissioner Charles D. Rousseau was absent.
Commissioner Eric K. Maxwell praised Rapson's leadership and said he was pleased to support extending the administrator's contract. "I am very proud to work with Mr. Rapson and valued his expertise, professionalism and experience," Maxwell said. Vice Chairman Gibbons and Commissioner Oddo also offered public praise for Rapson's leadership and staff retention. Chairman Lee Hearn said Rapson had "exceeded his expectations."
The motion covered personnel contract terms and was taken after the Board recessed into executive session and then returned; the Board also approved the Oct. 24, 2024 Executive Session minutes before adjourning at 3:55 p.m.
