Autauga County Commission adopts FY2026 Rules of Order, awards 2026 paving contracts and approves multiple personnel actions

Chairman Jay Thompson presided over the Autauga County Commission meeting on Dec. 16, 2025, where commissioners unanimously adopted a formal set of rules governing meeting procedures and moved forward on routine county business.
The Commission approved Resolution No. 2026-08 (FY2026 Rules of Order) on a motion from Commissioner Rusty Jacksland, seconded by Commissioner Terry Tanner. The resolution, filed in the minutes, sets the regular meeting schedule (first and third Tuesday of each month at 5:00 p.m.), authorizes special and holdover meetings, establishes a consent docket and agenda deadlines, requires sign-in and contact information for public speakers, and specifies that Robert"s Rules of Order shall control where not otherwise specified. The motion carried by unanimous vote of the Commission.
Commissioners also handled routine fiscal and operational items. On motions that carried unanimously, the body authorized payment of invoices through Dec. 16, 2025 and approved consent-docket items including travel authorizations, six-month probation approvals for several staff, and transfers to the gasoline and sheriff budgets for November 2025. The minutes record a November gasoline-budget transfer of $4,844.88 charged to the General Fund and $162.96 charged to the Reappraisal Fund; a separate transfer to the sheriff budget covered Animal Control ($956.81), SRO ($302.59) and jail fuel ($1,800.56).
The Commission approved a slate of personnel actions affecting public safety, courts and administrative offices. Approved hires and effective dates include Daniel Jamison Godwin as deputy sheriff (grade PS303: step 4), effective Dec. 23, 2025; Alyssas Lamb as a full-time correction officer (grade PS301: step 3), effective Dec. 15, 2025; promotions and replacements in courthouse security and the reappraisal office were also recorded. Several deputy hires were approved "pending background/drug test" status as noted in the minutes. The Commission also accepted a resignation and recorded a retirement effective Feb. 1, 2026 for an accounts payable clerk, with authorization to advertise for replacements.
The Commission approved an updated contract with Turn Key Correctional Healthcare for jail medical services and awarded the county's annual paving contracts for 2026 to APAC, Wiregrass Construction and ACI after suspending the rules to add the bid award to the agenda; that motion also carried unanimously.
The minutes show the Commission approved FY2026 Solid Waste exemptions listed as Batches 10 and 11, which the record lists by resident name and address. The body also authorized county forces to repair potholes in Maul Drive, Derby Street at the railroad, and Park Road on CR-79 for the Town of Billingsley, to be reimbursed upon completion.
All motions recorded in the minutes carried by unanimous vote of the Commission. The meeting was adjourned at 5:24 p.m. with a reconvening scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. The minutes include a signature block for Chairman Jay Thompson and the commissioners.
