Autauga County Commission approves personnel lineup, awards EMA hazmat trailer and tables jail-health contract

At its Dec. 2 meeting the Autauga County Commission approved routine personnel changes, awarded a $44,999.99 EMA hazmat trailer bid to True Pull Trailers, tabled an updated Turn Key Correctional Healthcare contract, held an executive session, and set its next meeting for Dec. 16.
The Autauga County Commission on Dec. 2, 2025 unanimously approved a package of personnel actions, accepted multiple resignations, and awarded a sole-source bid for an emergency-management hazmat trailer.
Commissioner Jay Thompson, chairman, called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. and Commissioner Rusty Jacksland gave the invocation. Commissioners John L. Thrailkill and Bill Tatum moved the meeting’s opening procedural votes to approve the Nov. 18, 2025 minutes and to authorize payment of invoices received through Dec. 2, 2025; both motions carried unanimously.
The commission approved a consent docket that authorized county personnel to attend training listed on the agenda (including the Sheriff Cellbrite C2C user summit in Washington, D.C., April 13–17, 2026, and the Probate APJA winter conference Jan. 25–28, 2026), placed Deputy Darrius Matthew on a six-month probation, and authorized surplusing and destruction of specified sheriff equipment (a Garmin Alpha T20 GPS dog-tracking collar, serial #822002294, and an APC battery backup model BVN900M1, serial #0B2108P05420).
On personnel matters the commission accepted the resignations of Eliza Grace Trentman (desk clerk), effective Nov. 20, 2025, and Lauren Martin (desk clerk), effective Dec. 10, 2025, and authorized hiring replacements. The commission also approved the termination of Nakyla Ott, a full-time correction officer, effective Nov. 19, 2025, and authorized hiring to fill that vacancy. The commission approved a one-year, one-step pay increase for Richard Badgley, a truck driver (date of hire listed as Dec. 10, 2024). The commission approved hiring James Peters as Laborer I, grade 2 step 5, pending background and drug-screening requirements, to replace a terminated laborer.
The commission awarded the EMA 2024-FIL-6 hazmat trailer bid to True Pull Trailers, the sole bidder, for $44,999.99. The award was approved by unanimous vote. The commission also approved annual county bids for 2026 materials and public works with the exception of annual paving.
A proposed updated contract with Turn Key Correctional Healthcare was tabled to the next meeting after a motion to table carried unanimously. The commission suspended the rules to add an executive session at 5:16 p.m., entered and exited executive session (ended at 5:37 p.m.), and adjourned at 5:40 p.m., setting its next regular meeting for Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2025 at 5:00 p.m.
