Commission approves personnel changes, contracts, grants and proclaims National Preparedness Month

At its Sept. 16 meeting the Autauga County Commission approved multiple hires and promotions, a one-year E911 contract, a housing contract for inmates with Butler County, accepted a $15,000 EMA grant for weather radios, and adopted Resolution No. 2025-46 recognizing National Preparedness Month.
The Autauga County Commission on Sept. 16 approved a slate of routine personnel actions, intergovernmental contracts and grants, and adopted a proclamation recognizing National Preparedness Month.
During the consent docket commissioners approved travel and training authorizations for staff, placed two employees on six-month probation, and approved internal transfers to cover gasoline usage across several departments. The commission also approved surplus and destruction of a nonfunctional Sheriff Taser X26.
Personnel actions approved included the resignation of part-time SRO Spencer Traywick (effective Sept. 12, 2025) and authorization to hire a replacement; hiring Darius Cyrus as a full-time correction officer (grade PS301 step 4, effective Sept. 2, 2025); and hiring William Coe Darby as a Reappraisal Clerk II (pending background and drug test) to replace Shelby Griffin.
The commission approved a housing contract with Butler County for Autauga County inmates and a one-year contract between the Autauga County Commission and Autauga County E911 covering Oct. 1, 2025Sept. 30, 2026. Commissioners also approved a DYS long-term detention subsidy contract for Oct. 1, 2025Sept. 30, 2026.
The commission adopted Resolution No. 2025-46 recognizing September 2025 as National Preparedness Month and commending the Autauga County Emergency Management Agency for its preparedness work. The board further authorized the EMA to accept a $15,000 Mid-South RC&D FY2026 grant for a weather-radio distribution project and approved staff to apply for the FY2026 Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG).
Other business included approval of subdivision plats (Lily Meadows plat no. 1A and Guardian Credit Union plat no. 1), promotion of Troy Cleckler from truck driver to operator II and authorization to hire a replacement truck driver. The commission entered and exited executive session between 5:18 p.m. and 5:47 p.m., then added late reappraisal budget adjustments by unanimous vote before adjourning at 5:50 p.m.
