Autauga County Commission approves routine minutes, hires, budget moves and property transfer

The Autauga County Commission met at 5:00 p.m. on Aug. 5, 2025, and approved a slate of routine business items including the minutes of the July 15 meeting and invoices received through Aug. 5, according to meeting minutes. Commissioner John L. Thrailkill moved to approve the minutes and Commissioner Bill Tatum seconded; the commission voted unanimously to carry the motion.
The commission approved a consent docket that authorized county personnel to attend several training sessions for jail and investigative staff and authorized surplus and sale on GovDeals of multiple sheriff's vehicles and a 2007 Infiniti listed as a seized vehicle. Commissioner Bill Tatum moved the consent docket; Commissioner Rusty Jacksland seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
By unanimous votes the board approved a series of personnel actions: acceptance of several resignations (including David Hill Jr., part-time process server; Landon Reed and Antonio James, correction officers; and License Clerk Maggie Jones), promotions and new hires for corrections and licensing staff (including hires of Nakyla Ott, Jeanitress Stovall, Darius Cyrus, Constance Smiley, Russell Davison and Gabriella Anglin) and a one-year, one-step pay increase for Deputy Sheriff John Daniel for satisfactory service (date of hire listed as Aug. 19, 2024). Motions to accept and replace departing employees were moved and seconded by various commissioners and carried by unanimous vote.
The commission approved two $100 budget transfers: one reallocating $100 from 52960-499 (miscellaneous expenses) to line 203 (uniforms) for courthouse security, and another reallocating $100 from 52960-499 to line 171 (dues) for the school resource officer (SRO) account. Commissioner Rusty Jacksland made both motions; the motions were seconded and approved unanimously.
For juvenile services, the commission approved the FY2026 contract to house Autauga County juveniles at the Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Facility for the period Oct. 1, 2025–Sept. 30, 2026, and approved the FY2026 Diversion Grant for the Department of Youth Services. Commissioner John L. Thrailkill moved both measures; Commissioner Bill Tatum seconded and the measures passed unanimously.
The board also approved revisions to Everly Place, Plat No. 1 subdivision in District 3 and set a reconvening date of Aug. 12, 2025. Commissioner Thrailkill moved to adjourn at 5:22 p.m.; Commissioner Tatum seconded and the motion carried.
The meeting record lists Audra Smith (Deputy Treasurer/Administrator), Kyle Shirley (County Attorney) and John Mark Davis (County Engineer) as present but contains no extended discussion or direct quotes. The commission conducted all votes by unanimous roll call as recorded in the minutes.
