The board approved the regular meeting minutes of Jan. 26, 2026 and the special meeting minutes of Feb. 3, 2026 after motions by Commissioner Jake Liebau and second by Commissioner Perry Russell; both motions carried 3-0.
During the EMS report, Gillian Beaumont, EMS Director, said the service logged 14 runs in January and collected $442.67 in charges for the month. The board approved the hire of Mallery Swingle as an EMT at $15.00 per hour, Angela Wilson as an EMT at $15.00 per hour, and Kathryn Williams as an AEMT at $16.50 per hour; each hire was approved on motions that carried 3-0.
Emergency Management and Public Works provided updates. Emergency Manager Erica Cordell said she attended a Lower 8 Health Department tabletop exercise, led a "Stop the Bleed" training with 22 attendees, and noted the monthly siren test on Feb. 2; she also announced upcoming LEPC and Storm Spotters meetings. Public Works Director Don Sanders reported recent tree trimming and sign repairs, that the Osage Trail bridge has about 27 days remaining until completion, a recent hire for the Road Department, and ongoing equipment repairs.
At 1:21 p.m. the board recessed into executive session for legal matters with County Counselor Paul Dean and Todd Winscher present; the board returned at 1:36 p.m. and reported no action was taken.
Following the executive session, Commissioner Perry Russell moved and Commissioner Jake Liebau seconded approval of warrants totaling $262,061.53; the motion carried 3-0. The board also approved abatements PP26-015, PP26-016, OIL26-027, OIL26-028, RE26-024, RE26-025 and RE26-026 (motion carried 3-0) and approved payroll in the amount of $318,424.66 (motion carried 3-0).
Commissioner Liebau moved to adjourn at 1:49 p.m.; Commissioner Russell seconded and the motion carried. County Clerk Kerry Harrod attested to the minutes.
