Freemansburg council approves March bills, carnival proceeds split and police task force MOU

Council Member Margaret Lorrah moved to pay the bills dated March 4, 2025; Council Member Monica Elliott seconded the motion, which passed 5-0. Lorrah also moved to approve the Feb. 18, 2025 meeting minutes with two corrections and one addition; Council Vice‑President Jim Smith seconded and the motion passed 5-0.
On a separate agenda item, the council voted to split proceeds from the Freemansburg Carnival (May 13–17) 50/50 between Parks & Recreation and the Fire Department. The motion, made by Council Vice‑President Jim Smith and seconded by Margaret Lorrah, passed 4-1 with Council Member Monica Elliott recorded as abstaining.
The council reviewed the February police report as informational and then authorized the Council President and the Police Chief to execute a Northampton County Drug Task Force agreement and memorandum of understanding. The motion to authorize execution was made by Jim Smith, seconded by Monica Elliott, and passed 5-0.
Remittance reports from Portnoff Law Associates for sewer fees ($908.66) and trash fees ($165.00) were presented as informational, and a bankruptcy notice for property owners Andres Carrasquilla Jr. and Kerri L. Kostic (214 Clearfield Street) documenting delinquent trash and sewer fees totaling $2,145.00 from 2021–2023 was entered into the record.
