Rawlins County approves Age‑rated BCBS premiums for 2026 to process enrollments

The Rawlins County Board of Commissioners approved Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Age‑Rated premium structure for 2026 on Nov. 14 after a presentation from Theel Insurance representatives.
Darren Booth and Jeremy McGuire of Theel Insurance/BCBS told the commissioners that premiums rose because the county has a lower number of full‑time employees and that BCBS must use Age‑Rated premiums to process 2026 enrollments. "The premiums for BCBS increased due to a lower number of full‑time employees; the premiums are now based on the Age Rated," McGuire said during the presentation. Commissioner Lincoln Pochop moved to approve the Age‑Rated premiums; Commissioner Mark Mosley seconded the motion, and it carried.
Booth and the commissioners also discussed options for the county’s reserve funding for health coverage in 2026, but the board postponed a final decision and said it would revisit reserve funding at its Dec. 1 meeting.
No changes to enrollment windows or eligibility were recorded in the meeting minutes. The approval allows BCBS to proceed with enrollment processing for 2026 under the Age‑Rated structure.
