Rawlins County approves overhead door, schedules HRRR project and reports bridge progress

Road and bridge work and equipment needs were a primary topic at the Rawlins County Board of Commissioners’ Nov. 3 meeting. Road and Bridge Supervisor Wayne Lanning told the board the county’s HRRR project is scheduled to begin in December 2025 and that Klein Bridge work, including guardrail installation and dirt work, is nearly finished.
Lanning presented an estimate from contractor Tim Fossett for a new overhead door at the McDonald shop. Commissioner Lincoln Pochop moved to approve the purchase of a new overhead door in the amount of $6,586.90 from the County Building Fund; Commissioner Mark Mosley seconded the motion and it carried.
Lanning also reported staffing updates: Mike Knapp has resumed blade work and employee Dan Weishapl retired Oct. 31, 2025. Commissioners relayed a complaint about Road K near Lester Yoos and asked that Tim Solko visit the site.
The board did not record a formal vote tally in the minutes for the overhead-door motion. The HRRR project timeline was discussed but contract or bid documents were summarized by Lanning rather than read verbatim in the minutes.
