Rawlins County approves small purchases, allows landfill equipment use and schedules grant hearing

The Rawlins County Board of Commissioners handled several administrative matters during its Sept. 2 meeting.
Landfill Manager Corey Castens asked that Eberly Construction be allowed to use the landfill loader during concrete crushing; the commissioners agreed. Road Supervisor Wayne Lanning requested that L & M build a diesel tank for a pickup (estimated cost about $1,000). Commissioner Lincoln Pochop moved to buy a fuel tank from L & M; Commissioner Alan A. Solko seconded and the motion carried.
Commissioner Mark Mosley moved to approve the August 2025 vouchers; Commissioner Pochop seconded and the motion carried. The board asked County Clerk Rachel Finley to run a public notice for the KDOT public meeting in Colby on Oct. 15, 2025, to publish the weeks of Sept. 30 and Oct. 7. The board also changed its regular meeting scheduled for Oct. 15, 2025, to Oct. 16, 2025.
County Attorney Chris Rohr reported several legal and administrative items and reminded the board that the CVR Grant final hearing will be Sept. 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the Rawlins County Courtroom.
