Rawlins County hires Gary Wahrman as road foreman at $23 an hour

The Rawlins County Board of Commissioners voted Sept. 2, 2025, to hire Gary Wahrman as the county road foreman at $23.00 per hour, effective the same day.
Wayne Lanning of Road and Bridge discussed foreman expectations and wages with the commissioners and reported two road crew members had given two-week notices. Commissioner Lincoln Pochop moved to hire Wahrman at $23.00 per hour; Commissioner Mark Mosley seconded the motion, which the board approved.
Lanning also reported that corrugated pipe had arrived to address a hospital-site issue and requested permission to have L & M build a diesel tank for a pickup at an estimated cost of about $1,000. The tank purchase was addressed separately by motion during the meeting. County Attorney Chris Rohr was asked to provide guidance on responsibilities for private driveways and culverts.
