Rawlins County EMS adopts updated protocols, plans EMT class and removes a Region 1 appointment

The Rawlins County Board of Commissioners on Aug. 15 approved updated emergency medical services protocols, heard staffing and training plans from EMS leadership and removed a Region 1 appointment.
EMS Director Megan Rippe reported 911 staffing is fully staffed but noted transfer calls are harder because part-time EMTs have other jobs. Rippe presented updated state protocols and requested the board's approval; Commissioner Lincoln Pochop moved to approve the updates, Commissioner Mark Mosley seconded, and the motion carried.
Rippe said an EMT class is planned to run from November 2025 through June 2026 to bolster local certification capacity. Rippe also asked the board to remove Jennifer D'Amico as the county's Region 1 appointment; Commissioner Pochop moved to remove the appointment, Commissioner Mosley seconded, and the motion carried.
The board recorded these administrative decisions during routine departmental reports and did not assign additional funding during the meeting.
