Rawlins County approves corrugated tube repair and $8,400 pump for Road & Bridge

The Rawlins County Board of Commissioners approved two Road & Bridge purchases and heard updates on local bridge work during their Aug. 15 meeting.
Road Supervisor Wayne Lanning requested a corrugated tube to repair a washout between the Rawlins County Health Center and Columbian Hall; Commissioner Lincoln Pochop moved to purchase the tube, Commissioner Mark Mosley seconded, and the motion carried.
Lanning also reported that a John Deere hydraulic pump could not be repaired and requested approval to buy a replacement. Commissioner Pochop moved to approve the purchase of a new hydraulic pump from John Deere for $8,400; Commissioner Alan A. Solko seconded and the motion carried.
Lanning said work on the Klein Bridge has started and is expected to be completed in about 30 days. He also said Road & Bridge hired a part-time mower for the McDonald area and that Loop had spoken with the Kansas Department of Transportation about obtaining an old guard rail the county could use.
No vote tallies were recorded in the minutes beyond the notation that motions carried.
