The Rawlins County Board of Commissioners voted May 15 to write a resolution appointing current County Appraiser Alicia Baumfalk to a four-year term, with the position to be governed by the county Employee Handbook and no separate contract to be signed.
Commissioner Mark Mosley made the motion to prepare the resolution, noting the appointment would last four years and that pay would remain the same; Commissioner Alan A. Solko seconded. The motion carried. Baumfalk said she had time to consider the offer and would inform the board of her decision at the next regular meeting on June 2, 2025.
The motion followed a 15-minute executive session held earlier in the meeting for non-elected personnel. County Clerk Rachel Finley said County Attorney Chris Rohr was to email information about a Thomas County wage study for the board's reference; the board discussed countywide versus department-by-department wage requests.
No vote tallies were recorded in the minutes; the entry states only that the motion "carried." The board did not sign a contract at the May 15 meeting and indicated future raises, if any, would be considered under the Employee Handbook and at later reviews.
The board will revisit Baumfalk's decision at its June 2, 2025, regular meeting.
