Rawlins County accepts $40,000 offer for Highway 36 property and approves final landfill contractor payment

The Rawlins County Board of Commissioners voted April 1 to accept a $40,000 cash offer for county property on Highway 36. Diana Skiles of Pine Branch Real Estate presented the offer; the parcel had been listed at $45,000. Commissioner Mark Mosley moved to accept the $40,000 offer and Commissioner Lincoln Pochop seconded; the motion carried.
Skiles also reported that closing on a county property at 4th and Vine had been completed; Skiles will receive $3,778.75 and the county will receive $51,221.25 from that sale. Separately, Commissioner Lincoln Pochop moved and Commissioner Mosley seconded approval of Miller & Associates Application Payment No. 8 Final for Landfill Cell 5–6 Closure and Cell 7 Development; the motion carried.
County Attorney Chris Rohr and the commissioners also discussed Resolution 2025-05, intended to amend Resolution 2025-03 on landfill dumping fees to clarify which entities are exempt; Rohr said the language needs to be clear and the board will revisit the resolution at a future meeting. No vote on the resolution took place during the April 1 session.
