Rawlins County, Atwood agree Road & Bridge will mow airport; lease to be renewed every five years

At a March 4 special session with the City of Atwood, the Rawlins County Board of Commissioners agreed that Road & Bridge staff may mow the Atwood airport and approved renewing the county’s Road & Bridge lease every five years.
Councilman Dakota Dunker asked whether the City of Atwood could use county equipment to mow the airport or whether Road & Bridge staff could perform the mowing. Commissioners noted the existing lease already requires the county to provide mowing and said Road & Bridge could handle the airport mowing going forward; they said they would notify Road & Bridge Supervisor Mark Loop.
Commissioner Alan A. Solko moved to renew the Road & Bridge lease agreement on a five‑year cycle. Commissioner Lincoln Pochop seconded the motion; the motion carried. The City Attorney, Charles Peckham, will draft the updated lease agreement for the county and city to review.
No dollar amounts or changes to responsibilities beyond the mowing clarification were specified during the session. The commissioners did not set a public date for final approval of the drafted lease at the special meeting.
