Ford County approves $3.48M in claims, $299,699 workers' comp invoice and funds Garnett Road overlay using Community Project Funds

The Ford County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 20 approved claims for payment totaling $3,481,993.02 and took several county budget and operations actions.
Chairman Shawn Tasset moved to approve the claims as presented; Commissioner Chris Boys seconded and the motion carried 3-0. In Human Resources, Director Vanesa Avila-Ochoa presented a workers’ compensation policy invoice for $299,699; Commissioner Chris Boys moved to approve the invoice, Chairman Shawn Tasset seconded, and the motion passed 3-0.
Road & Bridge Director Brad Ross presented a Foley service-repair quote to fix one of the county’s road graders; the board approved the quoted repairs unanimously. During the meeting Ford County resident Brad White asked about resurfacing Garnett Road, an item tabled at the Jan. 5 meeting. The board voted to amend the agenda to add the unfinished business concerning Hot-Mix Asphalt overlay projects and then voted to fund the Garnett Road overlay (Garnett Road from 100 to 113 Road, 13.6 miles; bids prepared in Nov. 2025) using Community Project Funds. The funding motion carried 3-0.
These actions advance maintenance and road resurfacing work and finalize payment authorizations recorded on the meeting’s claims list. The board adjourned at 4:45 p.m.
