Ford County approves Sol Estates plat, Quality Auto Sales permit and SFTCC reports; OKs FY27 grant applications

At the Jan. 20 meeting the Ford County Board of Commissioners approved planning and corrections items presented by county staff.
Melissa Drake, director of Planning & Zoning, presented Resolution No. 2026-07 for the Sol Estates plat and Resolution No. 2026-08 concerning Jim Bailes/Quality Auto Sales. Commissioner Chris Boys moved to approve each resolution and Commissioner Gary Thomas seconded; both motions carried 3-0.
Loren Ashlock presented Local Emergency Planning Committee bylaws for 2025 and 2026 and asked that the misplaced 2025 bylaws be re-signed; the board approved the LEPC bylaws by unanimous vote.
Sonja Channell, director of SFTCC, reviewed advisory-board-approved reports that must be submitted to the Kansas Department of Corrections by March 13, 2026. The board approved the FY26 second-quarter progress reports for the Juvenile Delinquency Prevention Program and voted to submit FY27 Juvenile Services and Adult Community Corrections Comprehensive Plan grant applications and proposed budgets. Each motion carried 3-0.
The approvals cover land-use decisions, emergency-planning bylaws, and corrections grant applications and mark routine compliance steps required for county planning and grant-funded programs.
