RiverStreet reports 15% of planned fiber installed in Phenix; first customers expected in six weeks

Rob Taylor of RiverStreet Broadband told the Charlotte County Board of Supervisors on Aug. 14 that the company has finished network design for the county and is advancing construction work.
Taylor said property acquisition for four service areas has been completed and recorded, staking is underway with roughly 83% of the county staked, and 42.23 miles — about 15% of total planned fiber miles — have been installed in the Phenix service area. He said the electronics hut for Phenix is expected to be installed in about two weeks and that RiverStreet has enough fiber and pedestals staged at the contractor’s lay yard in Keysville to continue construction as planned.
Taylor estimated the first customers on Charlotte County’s fiber‑to‑the‑home network would be connected in roughly six weeks. He also said the Charlotte Courthouse electronics hut design and color palette have been approved and the building has been ordered.
No formal county action was tied to the update; the report was delivered for the board’s information during the regular meeting.
