Charlotte County supervisors approve FY2023 invoices and $72.6 million in school appropriations

The Charlotte County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously June 12 to approve a series of FY2023 payments and appropriations, including $72,613,603 in appropriations for Charlotte County Public Schools and other departmental line items.

Chairman Gary D. Walker convened the meeting at 6 p.m. and the board moved as a group on the financial items after packet review. Supervisor Will Garnett moved to approve FY2023 invoices for payment totaling $734,320.41; Supervisor Walter T. Bailey seconded and all members present voted aye. The board separately approved invoices received after the May meeting totaling $48,095.75 and appropriations for FY2023 of $26,645.00.

The board also approved appropriations for Charlotte County Public Schools in the amount of $72,613,603 as presented in the packet. The packet included detailed line items for county departments and funds, including general fund, school fund, and special funds; line-item examples listed in the packet ranged from board expenses to sheriff’s department and school fund totals.

County Administrator Daniel Witt reviewed fund totals included in the packet and noted the board’s motion covered both the motions on individual invoices and acceptance of the packet’s appropriation schedule. The approvals were all passed by voice vote with every member present voting aye.

Board action closed out routine fiscal business for the fiscal year and the packet’s line items—spanning departments such as public safety, schools, building and grounds, and debt service—were accepted as presented. The board adjourned after completing the evening’s agenda.
