Llano County Hospital Authority hears staffing change, new geriatric outpatient service and equipment updates

At the Llano County Hospital Authority's May 8 meeting, attendees heard a series of operational updates covering staffing, services and diagnostic equipment.
Hatch Smith reported that Marketing Coordinator Cynthia Green departed in February and that a replacement was hired in early May. Smith also said a new geriatric outpatient service is nearing completion and that the program had received 50 referrals; the minutes describe the service as serving patients "within a 50 radius of the hospital" (the minutes do not specify the unit for that radius).
Smith said the Hamilton EMS unit that had been resident in the hospital is moving to rental property in Llano in anticipation of a new facility Llano County plans to build for EMS use.
Board members were told installation of new endoscope equipment has been delayed because the space to house the equipment required more preparation than anticipated and because of recertification requirements from the State of Texas. The CT scanner is in active use: the minutes report 1,407 scans in 2023 and 485 scans through the first four months of 2024.
Treasurer David Willmann also reported the authority's bank balance was $564,152.99 as of April 30, 2024, and noted directors-and-officers insurance was renewed. No public comments were recorded at the meeting. The board did not set a date for its next meeting because of calendar conflicts and adjourned at 3:14 p.m.
