Parma Heights Council approves emergency telecom contract for police, adopts OPBA agreement and final 2022 appropriation

Council read and passed a resolution authorizing the administration to purchase telephone and internet services for the Parma Heights Police Department from T‑Mobile USA, Inc., under an emergency declaration. Councilwoman Durichko moved to read the resolution by title; Councilman Stavole seconded. The motion to suspend the rules and the final passage carried unanimously.
The council also passed an ordinance repealing Ordinance No. 2021‑26, which had established compensation schedules for various city employees. Councilwoman Walsh moved to read the ordinance by title and the body voted to suspend the rules and adopt it unanimously.
Separately, the council approved an emergency ordinance authorizing the administration to execute a collective bargaining agreement with the Ohio Patrolmen's Benevolent Association (OPBA) covering captains and sergeants. The ordinance was moved by Councilman Haase and seconded by Councilwoman Maruschak; Council President Tom Rounds thanked the administration, saying it was "a very fair deal for the OPBA and the City of Parma Heights." The ordinance passed on a unanimous vote.
Finally, the council adopted an ordinance appropriating funds for city operations through Dec. 31, 2022, repealing Ordinance 2022‑6. That motion was moved by Councilwoman DeSouza and seconded by Councilwoman Maruschak; the council voted to suspend the rules and pass the appropriation unanimously.
