Chairman Wade Hollenbeck and Rock County commissioners discussed Carn’s Bridge detour costs and related washouts reported by Road Foreman Waylon Reynolds. In the joint session Keya Paha commissioners John Frederick, Corey Nilson and Tony Tiefenthaler participated and Jodi Gibson joined by phone for NDOT (Nebraska Department of Transportation) to discuss the counties’ 20 percent share that is owed to NDOT. The minutes record that Rock County had posted its share and that Keya Paha planned to forward its share to Rock County after its next meeting.
The county claims audit included a BKR Bridge Fund transfer of $200,000 and an item listed as "NDOT Rock Share/Carn’s Bridge" for $1,105,782.55. The minutes do not state whether that $1,105,782.55 is the total project cost or a specific county share; they record only the claim entry as shown in the claims list. Commissioners discussed costs and bookkeeping for the bridge billing during the joint session; Keya Paha indicated it would deliver its portion of the payment to Rock County the following week.
Next steps: Keya Paha commissioners expected to transmit their share to Rock County after their county meeting; county staff will continue coordination with NDOT.
